FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. The molten metal flows are regulated by creation of the first, second (11), third (12), fourth (13), fifth (14) and sixth (15) braking zones in the continuous casting unit by the first (10'), second (11'), third (12'), fourth (13'), fifth (14') and sixth (15') electromagnetic brakes. The first braking zone (10) is located in the central part (41) of the molten metal bath (4) near the output section (27) for output of molten metal from the pouring nozzle (3). The second braking zone (11) is located in the central part (41) of the bath (4) below the first braking zone (10). The third braking zone (12) is located in the first lateral part (42) of the bath (4) between the central part (41) and the first external lateral wall (17), located orthogonally to the front walls (16, 16'). The fourth braking zone (13) is located within the second lateral part (43) of the bath (4), and is symmetric to the first lateral part (42) of the bath (4) with reference to the symmetry plane (A-A), and passes orthogonally to external front walls (16, 16') of the crystalliser pan. The fifth braking zone (14) is located in the first lateral part (42) of the bath (4) below the third braking zone (12). The sixth braking zone (15) is located in the second lateral part (43) of the bath (4) below the fourth braking zone (13). Activation of the braking zones (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15) is performed independently or by groups according to specific parameters of hydrodynamics of the named molten metal in the named bath (4).
EFFECT: regulation of molten metal flows is provided at various hydrodynamical conditions.
