FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used for forecasting and control over carbide tool durability in production, application or certification. Initial parameter is checked for departure from the properties of structure made during carbide tool manufacture. Reference durability tests are executed in cutting of materials that exhibit intense adhesion wear at optimum cutting speed or that approximating thereto. Reference, i.e. correlation relationship "initial parameter - durability" is plotted. Solely initial parameter of the current carbide tool lot is subjected to statistical control while forecasting of said lot is effected on the basis of the relationship. Said initial parameter is the hydrogen concentration in hard metal internal structure, its increase ups the P application group tool durability.
EFFECT: higher precision and lower labour input of forecasts.
