FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used for forecasting and control over carbide tool durability in production, application or certification. Testing is performed on change of initial parameter from properties of structure made during carbide tool manufacture. Reference durability tests are executed in cutting of materials that exhibit intense adhesion wear at optimum cutting speed or that approximating thereto. Reference-correlation “initial parameter - wear resistance” relationship is built. Static monitoring of input parameter value only is performed for current batch of carbide cutting tools, and forecast of wear resistance is made for current batch of the carbide tools - all based on relationships. Initial parameter is value of concentration of hydrogen contained in oxide mass produced during oxidation of hard alloy cutting tools, with increase of which wear resistance of hard alloy cutting tools of applicability group P increases.
EFFECT: technical result is improved accuracy and reduced labour input when predicting wear resistance of hard alloy cutting tools.
