FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: tests for change of the initial parameter due to properties of the surface and subsurface structure created during manufacturing of hard alloy cutting material are conducted. Reference wear resistance tests are performed during cutting of the materials that result in intensive diffusion wear and tear under optimal or close to optimal cutting speed. The reference correlation curve "wear resistance - initial parameter" is plotted. Only the value of initial parameter of the current batch of hard-alloy cutting tools is statistically monitored, and forecast of wear resistance of the current batch of hard-alloy tools is performed on the basis of the relation. The oxygen concentration in surface and subsurface structure of the hard alloy is used as the initial parameter, with the concentration decreasing the wear resistance of the hard alloy cutting tools of application group P also increases.
EFFECT: improved accuracy and reduced labour intensity during forecast of the wear resistance of the hard alloy cutting tools.
