FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: initial parameter is checked for departure from the properties of structure made during carbide tool manufacture. Reference durability tests are executed in cutting of materials that exhibit intense adhesion wear at optimum cutting speed or that approximating thereto. Reference, i.e. correlation relationship "initial parameter - durability" is plotted. Statistical control is performed for current lot of carbide tools to monitor the initial parameter magnitude only. Said initial parameter represents the hydrogen concentration in carbide alloy internal structure. Decrease in said concentration increases durability of carbide tools in application group K. Tool durability is forecast proceeding from aforesaid relationship.

EFFECT: higher precision and lower labour input of forecasts.
