FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: Tetrahymena pyriformis cell suspension, RD reagent representing a pool of at least 10 factor D-free healthy donor's serums with the other complement components and factors being active as follows from chromatographic sorption of factor D in a column with SM-Sephadex C-50, and a test sample containing factor D to be analysed are introduced into measuring cells of an automated live infusorium counter, and live cells are determined every minute. If the dynamic time pattern of the live cell counts is the same for the test sample and reference representing the pool of 10 healthy donor's serums, the complement factor D activities in both samples are supposed to be equal.
EFFECT: effective method for evaluating the functional activity of the complement applicable in diagnosing a number of diseases.
