FIELD: physics, acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of converting an audio signal into a signal capable of compensating for hearing loss in a hearing-impaired person using a hearing aid with a receiver, a processing unit and a converter, wherein said method comprises the following steps: a) receiving an input signal with the receiver, wherein said input signal is characteristic for an audio signal; b) processing the received signal with the processing unit, wherein said processing comprises a filtering step; and c) providing a processed signal by a transmitter; wherein the processing step further includes a step of squaring the received signal and the squared signal is filtered.
EFFECT: providing the best compensation for hearing disorder due to that the human ear senses and transmits the power spectral density the audio signal.
