SUBSTANCE: method of drying plant materials consists in that the material is loaded, moved in counter-flow by the drying agent, the dried part of the material is discharged, and the material of the initial moisture is loaded on top. The novelty is the fact that the material is compacted when loading to a steady state. The device for drying plant materials comprises a rotating chamber 3, a grid 9, the means of loading 2 and unloading 4 of the material, a heat generator 11, and a fan 10. The novelty is the fact that the device is provided with the compacting means 13 of the material when loading.

EFFECT: layer compacting enables not only to increase the intensity of its drying, but also to reduce the cost of specific heat for drying.
