FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: during realisation of the method a tested item is previously placed into electric field, the item is radiated with electromagnetic wave, polarised waves are received, path difference between these waves is measured. The diameter of the tested product is determined according to the formula: d=2δλ/πrn3Eext, where δ - path difference (in degrees or radians) of waves in a dielectric product, λ - wave length (m), r - linear electro-optical coefficient (m/V), n - index of wave refraction in a hollow dielectric product with absence of external electric field, Eext - intensity of external electric field (V/m).

EFFECT: increased stability of measurement.
