FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: using radar stations, a moving object is identified, then data on distance to the target are transmitted from two or more radar stations to the analysis unit using which coordinates of the moving target are calculated. The analysis unit contains information on coordinates of location of coming and leaving sections along which the moving object at coincidence of its movement trajectory with the location of the railway track is identified with a railway unit. Then in the monitoring and control unit the train speed and arrival time to the railway crossing are calculated and the control of the executive mechanism of the railway crossing is performed. Use of radar stations which operate irrespective of condition of railroad tracks and its parameters, allows to identify targets at a distance of several tens kilometres. The method of control of the crossing alarm system allows to increase the length of the approach section and can be used both on low-active sections of the railroads without electric traction where there are no electric joints in strings of rail lines, and on the main roads, including that with electric traction of any type, not fitted and fitted with automatic lock-out devices of any type.

EFFECT: increase of length of section of approach and expansion of functionality consisting in a possibility of use on low-active sections of roads.
