FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for assessment of physical-mechanical properties of material by indenting due to application of a single impact force and may be used for comparative assessment of properties of several different compared materials. The solution is the method making it possible to range (build in a row) several compared materials by their capacity to resist deformation and damage during indenting by the method of pendulum scribing. Substance: indenting is carried out using the method of pendulum scribing, results of scribing are measured by parameters of deformation and damage of surface layers of investigated material, interconnections are established between measured results and investigated physical and mechanical properties of materials, operation properties of compared materials are predicted by measured scribing results. In the trace left by an indentor they measure length and maximum width of the scribing trace, determine the value of length ratio to maximum width, and by the value of this ratio they decide on physical-mechanical and operational properties of compared materials.

EFFECT: simplified method to assess physical-mechanical properties of material during pendulum indenting, prediction of efficiency of usage of compared materials under identical conditions of operation.
