FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mining and construction, particularly, to percussion mechanisms to be used for destruction of hard materials of natural and artificial origin. Pneumatic hammer comprises body with outlet channels to accommodate the hammer. The latter divides the body inner space into working and idle strokes chambers intermittently communicating via bypass channel. Cover is arranged on body end on working stroke chamber side with its inlet channel as well as working tool. Bypass channel is composed of lengthwise groove on body cavity inner side surface to intermittently communicate both chambers at discharge channel shutoff by the hammer side surface.
EFFECT: increased force pulse and hammer acceleration, decreased air consumption, higher impact frequency and power, reliable starting of the hammer.
