FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inorganic synthesis and can be used to produce pure silicon. The method includes obtaining magnesium silicide by mixing silicon dioxide with magnesium, thermal decomposition of magnesium silicide in an oxygen-containing atmosphere at a temperature higher than 650°C and treatment with a mineral acid to obtain silicon powder.
EFFECT: obtaining elementary silicon which is suitable for use in solar power engineering with low power consumption compared to conventional methods.
