FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: method of generation of broadband electromagnetic radiation of UHF range can be used in radio engineering and electronic industry, in particular, in devices of generation of powerful broadband electromagnetic impulses (EMI) in the centimetric, millimetric and submillimetric ranges. The photo diode electrodes are powered by voltage impulse, the photocathode with a shape of the focusing mirror for laser radiation is obliquely irradiated with the pulse laser radiation therefore from the cathode electrons are emitted which are accelerated in the vacuumised inter-electrode interval, using the anode, transparent for the generated electromagnetic radiation.
EFFECT: improvement of efficiency of transformation of electrostatic energy into energy of electromagnetic radiation.
