FIELD: electronics.
SUBSTANCE: method for generating electromagnetic radiation of UHF range relates to microwave engineering and can be used in development of powerful broadband electromagnetic pulse generators in the centimeter, millimeter and submillimeter wavelength ranges. Onto electrodes of a photodiode a pulse voltage is supplied, a photocathode is exposed to inclined pulsed laser radiation, as the result of which electrons are emitted from the cathode, which are accelerated in a vacuumed interelectrode gap, electromagnetic radiation spectrum is changed and loss of electrons is reduced by arranging a screening electrode outside the discharge gap.
EFFECT: technical result is expansion of electromagnetic radiation spectrum.
