FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technique of generating high-power ultra-wideband (UWB) electromagnetic pulses (EMP) of the sub-nanosecond range of durations and can be used in the development of the appropriate generators for communications, radar-location, navigation and electronic warfare. The controlled key switch consisting of the repetitively-pulsed light source, the key anode and the key photocathode, is installed in the power supply circuit of the generator between the high-voltage source and the high-voltage photodiode. The distance between the key photocathode and the key anode eliminates the possibility of the controlled key switch electrical breakdown with the maximum voltage applied to the high-voltage photodiode.
EFFECT: increasing reliability by ensuring the UWB operation of the EMP generator with the high pulse repetition rate without catastrophic mesh anode breakdown at the high-voltage photodiode breakdown.
