FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to microwave technology and can be used in the development of generators of broadband electromagnetic radiation (EMR) in the centimeter wavelength range. Device for generating pulses of broadband electromagnetic radiation of the microwave range is flat photocathode 1 and anode 2 located at some distance from it, which is made in the form of conductive plates, installed at an angle to the surface of photocathode 1. Plates are installed with overlapping of the free flight of electrons, emitted in a perpendicular direction to the surface of photocathode 1.
EFFECT: present invention has made it possible to increase the generation efficiency and to obtain pulses of a broadband EMP UHF range in the frequency operation mode and at the same time to preserve and extend the lifetime of the photodiode.
