FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: manufacturing method of atomic cells involves heating of an opening and an end face of a cell workpiece, welding of the opening to one of the end faces of the workpiece and their annealing by emission of a CO2 laser, heat treatment of the workpiece, pumping-out and further filling with vapours of alkaline metal in vacuum. Then, the sputtered metal is evaporated from workpiece walls by means of the CO2 laser and the cell is sealed by installation of a transparent opening on the second end face of the cell workpiece and its welding to the end face by means of a laser. A device for filling in the cells with alkaline metal includes a vacuum chamber, pumps and a laser system. The vacuum chamber includes a carrousel with seats, a workpiece heater, a cover plate laying mechanism, and an opening transparent for laser emission.
EFFECT: invention allows obtaining miniature atomic cells with improved light transmission and operating properties, and allows saving an isotope of alkaline metal.
