FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the methods for manufacturing compact atomic cells with pairs of alkali metal atoms. Cell blanks are produced by cutting a long glass tube into blanks of equal length, an opening is made, the sections of circular tubes are welded with windows and the subsequent annealing of the cells is performed in a furnace, the cells are placed in the vacuum chamber in the slots of the carousel with the opening upwards, pumping, heat treatment and degassing of the cells are performed, the cells are filled with vapors of alkali metal atoms, and the cells are sealed. Heat treatment and filling of the cells with vapors of alkali metal atoms is carried out in vacuum. In the process of making blanks of cells, the opening is made offset to one of the working ends. In the process of filling the cells with alkali metal, the metal is distilled at the far working end of the cell by heating the area around the opening by means of CO2 laser radiation followed by heating the carousel of the vacuum chamber to room temperature. Next, the cells are sealed by means of self-tightening the opening by heating the opening area by means of the CO2 laser radiation in three stages: the area around the through hole is heated to melt and increase the volume of glass, reduce the radiation power, which is withstand at a reduced radiation power and uniformly reduce the radiation power. Final annealing is performed by rotating the sealed cells around their axis of symmetry.

EFFECT: reduced possibility of mechanical stress in the manufacture of cells.
