FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method and device for providing assistance in selection of device size in case of medical intervention. Method consists in obtaining X-ray image of vessel, introduction of wire guide, possessing radiopaque tip, into vessel, obtaining X-ray image of wire tip, division of wire tip into segments when it passes through vessel and presentation of information about vessel dimensions basing on wire tip size. In order to present information about dimensions virtual ruler, extending parallel to wire, is applied on image, with ruler being graduated in portions of wire tip and representing a curve, parallel to wire tip, with curve containing graduation, calculated on the basis of tip length, observed in current projection. X-ray visualising system contains means for obtaining information about dimensions, is made with possibility of method realisation and also contains calculating means for calculation of virtual ruler and superposition of virtual ruler, extending parallel to wire, on image, to provide information about dimensions.

EFFECT: application of invention makes it possible to increase accuracy of selecting size of devices for medical intervention.
