FIELD: radar ranging.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for determination of position of operating radar station of all-round view, for example ship navigation radar station. Method comprises receiving direct and re-reflected radar signals from the underlying surface, generated when the main lobe of the radar antenna (echo signals) is directed thereto, detection of direct pulse signals of radar station, and pulse signals re-reflected by underlying surface, determination of time parameters of signals. Receiving of said direct and re-reflected signals is carried out by passive direction finder (PDF) with full rotation of radar station survey antenna, determining period of complete revolution of radar antenna Trev, thereafter, the time interval ti<Trev is measured, the radar station antenna is turned relative to the direction on the passive direction finder. Then, signals received at time ti with passive direction finder beam are detected, radar antenna turning angle is determined relative to direction on passive direction finder by formula: αki=2πti/Trev. Further, the re-reflected signal duration is measured τR1 and τR2, received during beam turns respectively at angles αki and (αki+π), after which angle is determined βk1 between the direction on the radar station and the direction of the passive direction finder beam axis and the distance Rk to the radar station.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is broader functional capabilities of the method by determining the direction of the surveillance radar and range thereof in the absence of radio-contrast reflecting objects on the ground, with simultaneous increase in the measurement results reliability and range of measurements when using the antenna with a wide beam pattern, which enables to implement the method in small-size systems.
