FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: compacting device of an asphalt laying machine includes a tamping beam and a vibration plate; a high-frequency vibration plate with length L1=0.55L is arranged on the front end face of the frame before the tamping beam, where L - total length of the compacting device, which is installed at angle α to horizontal surface of the mix layer. The working surface of the tamping beam is inclined to the surface of the compacted layer at the specified angle α, which determines intensity and change of mix density from the beginning of its compaction DC=0.80 till end DC=0.90-0.92 and is determined by the following formula: α = arg t g h l a y e r ( M C 0,8 M C 0,90 0,92 ) 0,55 L , where hlayer - thickness of the compacted layer, cm; MC0.8, MC0.90-0.92 - layer compaction margin coefficients from density DC=0.8 till density DC=0.90-0.92 respectively. Width of the tamping beam C is determined as C=(2-3)dmax, where dmax - maximum grain size of the compacted layer, and length L2 of low-frequency plate located after the tamping beam is determined as L2=[0.45L-(2-3)·dmax].
