FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy of refractory metals, namely to producing of tungsten powder. The reactor is loaded by tungstate of alkaline-earth metal and a reducer in the form of magnesium or calcium. In the reactionary volume the temperature T is maintained within the range of values 0.95Tmelt≤T≤0.85Tboil, where Tmelt and Tboil - temperatures of melting and boiling of the metal reducer. In the range of values T=(0.95-1.1) Tmelt the reduction is conducted in vacuum. In the range of values 1.1Tmelt<T≤0.85Tboil - in the atmosphere of inert gas. After reduction the cooling of reactionary mass and acid leaching are performed. When making the tungsten powder the acid leaching is conducted by solution of hydrochloric, sulphuric or nitric acid. Then the ready powder is washed-out by deionised water and dried.
EFFECT: increase of specific surface of the produced tungsten powder up to 21,1 m2/g.
