FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: crucibles are charged into the reactor with portions of the chromium subgroup metal oxide powder, at least, one compound selected from the group consisting of Cr2O3, WO3, MgWO4, MoO3 and MgMoO4, and a reducing agent in the form of metallic magnesium in the amount determined according to the ratio. The crucibles and the reducing agent are charged into the reactor with a space separation from each other. After charging inside the reactor, an inert gas atmosphere is created. The reactor is heated to form magnesium vapour. The interaction of the metal oxide compound and magnesium vapour is carried out at the temperature of 700-830°C and the residual pressure of 5-50 kPa to produce a metal powder of the chromium subgroup. The production of chromium, tungsten and molybdenum powders with specific surface area, m2/g is provided: 4.6-5.2, 4.7-9.8, 6.5-9.5.
EFFECT: expanding the range of metals produced for a single recovery cycle.
