FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: electrical power conversion device includes a conversion circuit with several pairs of bidirectionally switched switching elements connected to the corresponding phases for conversion of alternating-current power to alternating-current electrical power. The first switching time is calculated, during which one of the switching elements of the circuit of the upper arm of one phase is switched on; the other switching elements of the circuit of the upper arm of the other phase are switched off. At least one switching element of the circuit of the lower arm of other phases is switched on, and the other switching elements of the circuit of the lower arm in one phase are switched off using voltages determined by means of a voltage determining device and an output value of a control command. The second switching time is calculated, during which several pairs of switching elements of one phase are switched on, and several pairs of switching elements of the other phases are switched off. The second switching time is such that during one period of alternating-current electrical power output from the conversion circuit and contained in the first half-period of one period is equal to the second switching time contained in the second half-period of one period.
