FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: electrical power conversion device includes a conversion circuit with several pairs of bidirectional switching elements in the corresponding phases. The first switching time is calculated, during which one of the switching elements of the circuit of the upper arm of one phase is switched on, and the other switching elements of the circuit of the upper arm in other phases are switched off. At least one switching element of the circuit of the lower arm in other phases is switched on, and the other switching elements of the circuit of the lower arm in one phase are switched off using the voltages determined by means of a voltage determining device and an output value of a control command. The second switching time is calculated, during which several pairs of switching elements of one phase are switched on, and several pairs of switching elements in the other phases are switched off. When changing over from the first switching time to the second switching time of the switching elements, each of which is in a switched-on state, one of the switching elements of one of the circuit of the upper arm or the circuit of the lower arm is switched off, and the other one of the switching elements of the other circuit of the arm is maintained in a switched-on state.
EFFECT: preventing commutation failure.
