FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing (1,5,3-dithiazepan-3-yl)-alkanediols. The method includes reacting bis(methoxymethyl)aminoalkanediol (bis(methoxymethyl)-2-aminopropane-1,3-diol; bis(methoxymethyl)-2-amino-2-methylpropane-1,3-diol; bis(methoxymethyl)-3-aminopropane-1,2-diol) with 1,2-ethanedithiol in the presence of a SmCl3·6H2O catalyst in the medium of methanol-chloroform solvents at room temperature for 2.5-3.5 hours. Output of (1,5,3-dithiazepan-3-yl)-alkanediols (1) is 50-63%.
EFFECT: compounds can be used as antimicrobial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory agents, as well selective complexing agents and biocides.
