FIELD: instrumentation.

SUBSTANCE: during azimuth determination the following is performed: preliminary setting of the sensitivity axis of the gyroscope, rotation of sensitivity axis of the gyroscope to the set angles, measurement of rotation time of the gyroscope to each position by set angle, determination of total time of measurements of the gyroscope readings at any positions considering time of the azimuth determination, determination of values of minimum necessary time of readings measurement at each position of the sensitivity axis of the gyroscope, and minimum necessary number of measurements at the set time of azimuth determination, determination of gyroscope readings at set angles, and azimuth calculation using the obtained readings.

EFFECT: increased accuracy and reduced time of azimuth determination.
