FIELD: instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an assessment method of behaviour of driver's braking. At implementation of the method it is determined when a braking cycle will start. Time tengbrake when an engine brake of a vehicle is used during the braking cycle is determined. Time tshift spent on operation of a transmission during the braking cycle is determined. It is determined when the braking cycle ends. Total time ttotal is determined for the above braking cycle. Values ttotal and tengbrake are processed with regard to tshift according to pre-defined rules. BA braking assessment values are calculated based on processed values for tengbrake and ttotal. With that, the rules require that in case tshift is higher than tshiftmax that is adjustable maximum allowable time for change of transmission, then ttotal can be processed based on the fact that ttotal = ttotal+tsample, where tsample is a pre-determined period of time, and the calculated BA braking assessment value is provided to the driver. Besides, a driver's braking behaviour assessment system is proposed.
EFFECT: achieving encouragement of a driver to drive so that wear and fuel consumption can be minimised.
