FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and is intended for the treatment and/or local prevention of diseases of the posterior eye segment. A local eye composition, selected from the group of eye drops and ointments, containing a therapeutically effective quantity of somatostatin or a somatostatin analogue, selected from the group, which consists of somatostatin-28, somatostatin-14, somatostatin-13, prosomatostatin, octreotide, lanreotide, vapreotide, pasireotide, seglitide, cortistatin and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, is applied for the production of a medication for the treatment and/or prevention of diseases of the posterior eye segment. A disease of the posterior eye segment is selected from the group, formed by non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, neurodegeneration of the retina, neovascularisation of the retina, caused by ischemia retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurely born, sickle cell retinopathy, occlusion of the retina vein, pigment retinitis, uveitis, macular oedema and cystoid macular oedema.
EFFECT: increase of the efficiency of treatment and/or prevention of a disease of the posterior eye segment is achieved.
