FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is intended for drug delivery to a posterior segment of the eye. Ophthalmic formulation in the form of a suspension for external use for the treatment of a posterior segment of the eye contains an active agent of formula II or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, two or more thickeners selected from hydroxyethylcellulose, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and carboxymethylcellulose or a salt thereof. Active agent or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt is present in amount of 0.1% to 1.0% w/v. and at least 95% of the active agent is in insoluble form. Also disclosed is the use of said drug for preparing the posterior segment of the eye and/or for treating and/or relieving a disease of the posterior segment of the eye.

EFFECT: use of the group of inventions provides the combined effects of the reduced effect of the drug on the cornea and the anterior segment of the eye, while increasing bioavailability to posterior segment of eye, which improves ophthalmic tolerance and therapeutic index of active agent.
