FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: inspection method of a Doppler current velocity meter involves measurement of carrier radiation frequency of hydroacoustic pulses shaped by the Doppler current velocity meter placed in an acoustically blanked-off pool, generation, by means of a hydroacoustic radiator, of signals in the pool at the specified frequencies in-series changed relative to carrier radiation frequency by a value of Doppler frequency offset, which corresponds to the specified one, for this measurement, velocity of current in the allowable range of current velocity measurement, measurement of the value of this velocity and determination of error of its measurement by comparison of readings of the Doppler current velocity meter to the current velocity value specified by Doppler frequency offset assumed as a standard one.

EFFECT: development of an inspection method of a Doppler current velocity meter supported by existing national accuracy charts of water flow velocity measuring devices and considering physical principles of this type of devices, which improves reliability of measurement results.
