FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: nuclear reactor of pool type comprises a tank filled with coolant, a horizontal and a vertical partitions, which separate the tank into a retaining reservoir and a reactor pool above it with a reactor core and a storage pond. In the reactor pool the horizontal partition comprises a header under the reactor core and bypass passages outside the reactor core, providing for descending flow of coolant into the retaining reservoir under normal operation. In the storage pond there is a heat exchanger of emergency cooling circuit, and in the vertical partition above the upper level of the reactor core there is a gate that opens in case of an emergency.
EFFECT: organisation of efficient mutually related circulation of coolant in pools and in a retaining reservoir in emergency situations, providing for long-term cooling without placement of additional anti-emergency devices in a reactor pool.
