FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: control device is suggested, it calculates stable target value of the turbocharging pressure during operation of the internal combustion engine (ICE) under stable mode based on the engine speed and volume of injected fuel, and controlling the actuator of the turbocharging pressure regulator such that actual turbocharging pressure calculated according to the signal from the turbocharging pressure sensor is close to the stable target value. During ICE operation under transient mode multiple different conditions shall be met, for each condition the suitable transient target value of the turbocharging pressure is calculated. When one transient target value is available, the specified target value is selected, and if simultaneously there are multiple transient target values then one of the transient target values is selected in accordance with order of priority determined based on the acceleration. The target value varies from stable target value to selected transient target value.
EFFECT: meeting of different limitations associated with control of the turbocharging pressure even during ICE operation under transient mode.
