FIELD: internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in supercharged internal combustion engines. Method of operating a supercharged engine comprises, in response to the pressing of accelerator pedal (16) by driver (14) and a boost pressure lower than the threshold value, closing volume (135) control valve (137) connected only upstream of turbine (92) to volume (135) in split exhaust manifold (29) of engine (10) until boost pressure reaches the threshold value. Volume (135) is a closed chamber. Volume (135) control valve (137) is controlled in response to boost pressure reaching a threshold value, based on one or more engine operation parameters including engine speed and exhaust gas pressure. Version of the method of operating a supercharged engine and a system for operating a supercharged engine are disclosed.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reducing the pulsation of exhaust gas pressure forming peak pressure values in a split manifold.
