TAPHOLE BRICK Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC F27D3/15 

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: cast iron taphole consists of taphole brick, taphole wall with recess. The taphole brick consists of external and internal taphole bricks, at that the external taphole brick is made with lead-in part with size 298×400×300 mm out of alumina block, at its second end along the perimeter the recess with groove is made to secure the external taphole brick in frame. The frame is made out of welded steel angle-bars. On the external angle-bar of the frame four thread studs are welded, on them the extractor with welded three handles is secured. The extractor is made with flanging, that has five slots to secure the extractor with fixed on it external taphole brick on five thread studs welded to the furnace armour. The internal taphole brick has in the centre a taphole, at distance 35 mm from the end face it has recess along the perimeter with width 3.5 mm and depth 5 mm, in it steel welded clamp halves are inserted.

EFFECT: increased service life of the taphole brick.
