FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the design of a spark arrester. The spark arrester comprises two flat electrodes placed in the body at a distance and opposite each other thus forming an electric arc combustion chamber. A gas cooling and pressure balancing chamber is connected to the electric arc combustion chamber. The body is formed of two main parts, in each part in opposite planes there is a respective channel for an electrode contact bank. Contact banks of the electrodes are connected by connecting terminals at the outside of the body. Each main part of the body has the first chamber to receive an electrode holder made of a dielectric material and the second chamber to receive a cooling unit with high heat conductivity with channels in the unit. A heat conductive U-bracket covers the main parts of the body from the outside in the area of the cooling unit, which is mechanically joined to the main parts of the body with pressure-resistive ability.
EFFECT: potential use of the arrester at high current loads and low aftercurrents.
