X-RAY DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE FOR INVASION OF RECURRENT CARCINOMA OF VULVA INTO SOFT TISSUES Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC A61B6/04 A61K49/04

SUBSTANCE: method involves a pneumoroentgenography by placing a patient on a trochoscope of an X-ray diagnostic apparatus in a dorsosacral position with a pelvis elevated. A manipulation area is limited with sterile drapes, and the skin is treated with an antiseptic solution. A protruding part of the recurrent tumour is palpated to localise and smeared with a water-soluble contrast agent of diatriazole group. The same contrast agent is administered sub- and paratumorally from 4 points around the periphery of the new growth: 2 ml in one point. Thereafter, gas is injected at a depth of 5-6 cm around the periphery of the new growth into 6-10 points at 1.0-1.5 cm in an amount of 1.5-2.0 cm³ of gas into each point. That is followed by forming an X-ray image in a frontal projection and two semi-lateral projections; if observing a highlighted shadow with sharp bossed contours and more compact structure against the background of gas insufflated tissues of postoperative scar, recurrent carcinoma of vulva is diagnosed, a degree of expansion and an invasion depth of the tumour are determined.

EFFECT: technique provides the accurate differentiation of the tumour and surrounding tissues and the accurate diagnosis of the degree of expansion and the invasion depth of recurrent carcinoma of vulva within the postoperative scar for the purpose of choosing the following adequate treatment.
