FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric rocket engines. Large-sized ionic engine comprises encased ionic chamber. The latter comprises working fluid feed unit and ionic-optical system composed of plasma and acceleration electrodes secured at the case outer surface and isolated from each other and from said case. Neutralising cathode is secured at said case. Inner wall is arranged along the case central axis to make through opening to accommodate said neutralising cathode. Ionic-optical system composed of plasma and acceleration electrodes are composed of rings with inner perimeters secured to the case inner wall and isolated from each other and from said case. Note here that gas discharge chamber comprises at least one circular magnetic core and circular discharge chamber. Working fluid feed unit is composed of circular anode arranged therein to make a gas distributor. Discharge chamber is arranged inside circular magnetic core, its poles covering the discharge chamber rings. Note also that said magnetic core is provided with magnet, for example, solenoid-type electromagnet. Note also that source of ions connected in claimed circuit with closed electron drift features the coefficient of working fluid use of the order of 1.
EFFECT: ruled out backflow of ions, longer service life of engine.
