FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: fixation stability is tested by means of MP-1 Nidek technologies apparatus. A patients looks at a cross-shaped fixation mark. The apparatus records and matches fixation points with a patient's eye ground image automatically. A percentage of fixation points entry into an area of 2° from the fixation mark is determined. A fixation field width is calculated, expressed in degrees by overlaying a tangential grid onto a patient's eye ground digital image with the fixation points marked regardless of the fixation field location. If the fixation point number found in the area of 2° varies within 70 to 85% with the fixation field width up to and including 3°, the visual fixation is considered to be stable. If the fixation point number found in the area of 2° varies within 50 to 69% with the fixation field width from 4 to 5°, the visual fixation is considered to be relatively stable. The fixation point number of less than 49% in the area of 2° alongside with the fixation field width of more than 5° shows the unstable fixation.
EFFECT: more objective, reliable and accurate diagnosis.
