FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine. An expandable stent comprises a number of wave circular segments with each circular segments accommodating alternating peaks and hollows, and a number of longitudinally extending segments connecting a number of the wave circular segments with each of a number of the longitudinally extending segments accommodating a first longitudinally extending brace and a second longitudinally extending brace displaced around the circumference with respect to the first longitudinally extending brace. The first longitudinally extending brace and the second longitudinally extending brace are connected together by means of a coupling segment. Both of the first longitudinally extending brace and the second longitudinally extending brace are substantially parallel to a long axis of the stent. The first longitudinally extending brace is coupled with the peak of the first circular segment; the second longitudinally extending brace is coupled with the hollow of the second circular segment adjacent to the first circular segment; the coupling segment comprising the first and second brace sections separated by an acute-angled apex. The stent also comprises a pair of the first longitudinally extending braces adjacent around the circumference and displaced around the circumference at a firs distance in the pair of the longitudinally extending segments adjacent around the circumference, whereas a pair of the second longitudinally extending braces adjacent around the circumference are displaced around the circumference at a second distance, which is less than the first one, in the pair of the longitudinally extending segments adjacent around the circumference. The first distance is equal to the first set of the first wave circular segment, whereas the second distance is equal to the second set of the second wave circular segment adjacent to the first wave circular segment with the first set and the second set having a different number of peaks and hollows.
EFFECT: increasing the stent resistance when bending it to form loops.
