FIELD: physics, acoustics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to passive acoustic reflectors and makers used under water. An acoustic reflector, primarily for underwater use, is an envelope surrounding a core. The envelope has openings which allow water to freely enter and exit the envelope when the reflector is immersed in water. Different exemplary embodiments are described, which include using a metal envelope which is matched with a water core, using an aligning bar, providing a frame for acoustic reflection of text symbols and numbers, a dissolvable plug for delaying the actuation of the reflector and coating the reflector with polyurethane to limit damages. Reflector structures with an envelope made of aluminium or aluminium alloys, as well as reflectors with a non-metallic envelope are described. A critical characteristic of the invention is the possibility of using to mark underwater nonferromagnetic pipelines.
