FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power supply lines, in particular to determination of the electric damage places. The method means that at the moment of short circuit at one or adjacent railroad substation busbar voltage, line currents supplying the catenary systems, and current phase angles are measured. Values of the arbitrary parameters depending on the measured values and power supply diagram are calculated. The catenary system power supply diagram between two adjacent railroad substations is conditionally divided along the track length to several sections. For each section at the design short circuits at its beginning and end the design values and arbitrary parameters are calculated. Range of change of all design parameters within each of the track section are determined and included in the data base. The measured values and arbitrary parameters are compared with ranges of the design parameters from the data base for each track section, and as the short circuit place the section with maximum number of the measured values and arbitrary parameters within the ranges.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of place determination of the short circuit of non-uniform catenary system and extension of the application area.
