FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: timing control device comprises the timing control gear, mid locking mechanism (6), mid locked state determination means, engine shutoff means and means for tracing of the mid locked state. Timing control gear comprises the first rotor (1) to revolve in synchronism with the engine crankshaft and second rotor (2) running together with the engine camshaft relative to the first rotor (1). Timing gear can regulate the intake/discharge valve phases driven by camshaft opened and closed by camshaft, by variation of relative positions of rotation of both rotors (1, 2) in the range of displacements between the maximum phase and advance and delay. Mid locking gear (6) can limit the relative rotation positions of both rotors (1, 2) by mid locked position suitable for engine starting and located between maximum advance and delay positions. Timing gear and mid locking mechanism (6) are actuated and controlled to set the intermediate locked position whereat relative rotation positions are limited at said mid locked position when engine shutoff request is defined. Mid locked position determination means is meant for determination of the means definition existence. Engine shutoff means operates when predefined interval from determination of engine shutoff request expires without determination of intermediate shutoff state in the range of predefined period. Means for continuation of mid locked position tracing is meant for continuation of mid locked state after the engine shutoff.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of mid locked state confirmation.
