FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a culture medium and a method of screening methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in a culture medium. The culture medium contains a combination of cephalosporins, selected from a group consisting of cefotetan (CTT) and ceftriaxone (CRO); cefotetan (CTT) and cefpodoxime (CPD); cefsulodin (CFS) and ceftriaxone (CRO); cefsulodin (CFS) and cefepime (FEP); and cefotetan (CTT) and ceftiofur (XLN). Each cephalosporin is present in concentration of 1-10 mg/l. The method of screening MRSA includes inoculating said culture medium with bacteria to be tested, culturing said bacteria in the culture medium in conditions which allow growth of staphylococci and identifying presence or absence of MRSA.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides high sensitivity and specificity when screening MRSA, as well as fast detection of MRSA in 18-24 hours.
