FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: methods of determining selenium (IV) using a polymethacrylate matrix includes preparing a selenium (IV) solution, extracting selenium (IV) with a membrane with immobilised dithizone or extracting triiodide ions with a membrane for indirect determination of selenium (IV), followed by separation from the solution, measuring an analytical signal and estimating content of selenium (IV). When using a polymethacrylate matrix with immobilised dithizone, the analytical signal light absorption at 610 nm is used; when extracting triiodide ions with a membrane for indirect determination of selenium (IV), the analytical signal used is light absorption at 370 mm, or visual estimation of the colour intensity of the optical membrane is used; content of selenium (IV) is estimated from a calibration curve or using a visual test method.
EFFECT: methods are simple, sensitive and environmentally safe.
