SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of making ophthalmic lenses capable of blocking UV radiation and corresponding lenses. Disclosed is a method of making UV-absorbing contact lenses, which includes covalent bonding of a UV-absorbing compound, which contains a second reactive functional group, with a pre-formed contact lens having a first reactive functional group inside and/or on the surface.

EFFECT: disclosed method is cheap and less time-consuming compared to earlier methods.
