SILICONE HYDROGEL LENS WITH CROSS-LINKED HYDROPHOBIC COATING Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC G02C7/04 A61F2/14 C08G77/388 B05D5/06 B29D11/02

Abstract RU 2583370 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: what is presented is a method for manufacturing a silicone hydrogel contact lens, which bears a cross-linked hydrophilic coating; the method involves heating the silicone hydrogel contact lens in an aqueous solution in the presence of a water-soluble strongly branched thermally cross-linked hydrophilic polymer material containing positively charged azetidinium groups at a temperature from 40°C to 140°C for a period of time sufficient to provide the covalent binding of the thermally cross-linked hydrophilic polymer material on the surface of the silicone hydrogel contact lens by means of covalent bonds, each of which is formed between one azetidinium group and one of reactive functional groups on the surface of the hydrogel contact lens and/or nearby, and thereby forming the cross-linked hydrophilic coating on the silicone hydrogel contact lens.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to improve the hydrophilic nature and smooth surface of the lens; it can be successfully used immediately in a hermetic lens pack when processed in an autoclave.
