SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of radioactive isotopes and more specifically to the technology of producing the nickel-63 radioactive isotope used in production of beta-voltaic current sources. The method of producing the nickel-63 radionuclide includes making a nickel target from nickel-62 rich initial nickel, said target having nickel-64 content higher than 2%, irradiating the target in a reactor and enriching the irradiated product with nickel-63 until achieving content thereof in the enriched product equal to 75% or higher.

EFFECT: invention provides large-scale commercial production of nickel-63 for beta-voltaic current sources.
