FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gas ICEs of vehicles, for example, shunting diesel locomotives. Claimed method comprises the feed of natural gas into gas-air mixing chamber 8 wherein gas is mixed with air. Gas-air mix is fed from chamber 8 into combustion chambers 1 and prechambers 11 of working cylinders for it to be combusted by spark plugs 14. During transient processes of ICE output increase the feed of gas-air mix feed is supplemented by liquid fuel injection into combustion chambers of working cylinders by atomisers 16 timed with voltage feed to spark plugs 14 of appropriate working cylinders.
EFFECT: higher acceleration capability, lower fuel consumption.
